Bell’s operations director is shortlisted for business person of the year award

A panel of judges has whittled down nearly 100 nominations for the awards at the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce event. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Grimsby Auditorium on May 13th 2016.

Steve was just 15 when he first started working at Bell, spending weekends un-sheeting the wagons, painting skips and sorting through waste. Over the past 32 years he has worked across many parts of the business and in his current role as operations director has played an integral role in the businesses development and success. Part of the Ellgia Recycling Group, the business now has a turnover of £18 million.

Headquartered in Scunthorpe, Bell Waste Control provides bespoke waste management solutions for businesses and domestic customers across Lincolnshire, Humberside and East Yorkshire. A key focus for Steve has been Bell Waste’s commitment to recycling and there is zero waste sent to landfill, instead all material is sorted and recycled on site.

Conclusion

Steve Kent said: “I’ve grown and developed with Bell over the past three decades and am immensely proud of the business as it stands today. We help thousands of businesses across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire to reduce the ever-increasing administrative burden related to waste management, as well as delivering significant cost savings through recycling rather than sending to landfill. Over the years we have helped to keep hundreds and thousands of tonnes of materials from being sent to landfill, so we’re also making a positive difference to the community we live in. It’s an exciting time for the business and a real honour to be shortlisted for this award”.
