High scoring, high octane fun at Cambridge University vs Steele-Bodgers XV – sponsored by Ellgia

Wednesday 23rd November may have started off freezing cold and foggy, but it didn’t take long for things to heat up. It was the day of the annual Cambridge University vs Steele-Bodgers XV from Grange Road, with Ellgia proudly sponsoring the event – and what a great day it was.

We love our rugby here at Ellgia, and we were delighted to get involved with sponsorship. It all took place at the Cambridge University Rugby Football Club, and we made sure the venue was well kitted out, with goal post pads, boards around the ground, beer mugs, mats and bar top mats. We also had two tables for our clients at the event, to enjoy all the action. And there was certainly plenty of that!

With the Light Blues looking to continue their recent winning streak in preparation for the Varsity match at Twickenham on 8th December, the strong Steele-Bodgers team had a tough job on their hands. They put forward a fantastic line-up, and it was a hotly contested and thrilling match to watch. The final score was 52-26 to Cambridge – the tries came thick and fast, with some fantastic conversions, and it was great fun. The crowd absolutely loved it, and everyone had a tremendous day.

Conclusion

As many of you will know we are also proud sponsors of Royston Rugby Club’s “Ellgia Development Team.” It’s a sport we really are passionate about and so we were delighted to sponsor such a fantastic event. The Steele-Bodgers XV vs Cambridge University match is a great tradition, now in its 68th year. At 91 years old and with such an illustrious rugby career behind him, we think Micky Steele-Bodgers should be very proud of the tradition he created – we certainly know we were proud to be involved.

Best of luck to Cambridge against Oxford on 8th December – go Light Blues!
