Local business support boosts Ellgia Recycling’s Christmas campaign for Ely Foodbank

Posted on:

Support is growing for Ellgia Recycling’s Christmas charity campaign, with Marshalls of Cambridge, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Grovemere Property plus Waitrose and Tesco food stores in Ely all now signed up to help recycle and raise money for Ely Foodbank.

The festive initiative launched last week offers businesses a special recycling bin for their premises in which to collect Christmas cards, wrapping paper and packaging. Between Christmas and January 18th 2016, Ellgia Recycling will collect all the Christmas waste and recycle it all at its Ely site, donating all proceeds to Ely Foodbank (1) which expects to help more than 400 local people this month.

Ellgia Recycling’s distinctive lime green bins have been snapped up by businesses, such as Marshalls in Cambridge for use by their employees, but also by those offering members of the public the chance to get involved. There will be bins placed in and around Ely, including Littleport and Witchford, and at Waitrose and Tesco food stores in Ely. Working with Grovemere Property, Ellgia Recycling has also set up a bin near its headquarters on Lancaster Way Business Park in Ely.

Joe Rudd, sales director for Ellgia Recycling, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Marshalls of Cambridge, Grovemere Property, Waitrose, Tesco and East Cambridgeshire Council on what is our first ever Christmas recycling campaign. It’s already seen such great support but there’s still time to get involved if any local businesses would like to do so.

“We’re asking people in Ely to not just throw away their Christmas waste this year but take any used wrapping paper, cards and packaging to one of our dedicated bins. This will help us to make a big difference to local families who need the support this winter.”
