In reflecting on our journey, Our esteemed chairman Steve Crooke, has shared some words on his insight from the journey.
"How has it been ten years? Where has that time gone?
Day one entering the office as someone nobody knew letting the staff know the business was in safe hands and I had acquired this business because it was a good business with good people with a lot of potential but needed guidance and investment. The following week we acquired the assets and staff of Thompsons a business that had been our major competitor for many years.
Two teams came together and after a little suspicion began to flourish. Both business had been traditional skip companies with the priority of extracting as much value (or cost reduction) out of the waste then sending all residue to Landfill.
My vision was to move the company up the waste hierarchy by investing in equipment and people to ensure change. Moving away from the reliance of other waste companies by producing our own fuel for both SRF and RDF. The journey would be at times long and difficult, punctuated for two years by Covid 19 which no one saw coming. A lot of lessons were learnt and given but over the years step by step we would improve and develop.
So today we find ourselves in a position in which we fear no one, can compete with anyone and have a team all our competitors envy.
We have spent significant time and money developing a business that is almost unrecognizable to the one we inherited ten years ago. I would like to personally thank all members of staff who continually go that extra mile. We have laughed, cried but never stopped trying to deliver the best we can. Here’s to the next ten years.
